While Halloween is now just days away, Zwinky's own nearly weeklong virtual Halloween party is just hours away. In fact, it's so close I can taste it. Or rather, I could taste it if my mouth wasn't full of KitKats and Gummi Worms.

Yes, let me remind you that this Friday is more than just an excuse to dress up as a mouse or (costume tip, fellas!) a mousetrap, it's the Super Bowl of Snacks.

SmileyCentral.com Zwinksters, we're at the start of what will be six months filled with holiday-themed candy in stores everywhere. It begins with Halloween, is replaced by Christmas, moves on to Valentine's Day, and finally ends with an all-out Easter blitz.

It's unclear which came first: candy as a part of these holidays, or candymakers TELLING us candy is a part of these holidays.

But why fight it? Play your costume right, and Halloween candy should be in abundance for the next week - and free. Think about it. When else can you approach a stranger's home at night in disguise, knock on their door, explain to them behind a mask that they must provide you with free candy or you may do something devious to them, and there are no hard feelings? In fact, during this entire exchange, everyone's smiling!

That's what free snacks can do. Free snacks make people happy!

Why, then, are presidential campaigns not run on promises of free sweets? Why aren't local legislators standing outside polling places on election day passing out Charleston Chews and Zagnuts, asking for votes? Trust me, one day when I run for mayor of Zwinktopia, I'll be sure to scour the entire world looking for would-be voters, handing out virtual peanut butter cups, chocolate bars and marshmallow caramel pumpkins.

So as you plan your weekend in Zwinktopia, spooking friends and looking fabulously creepy, take some time to step outside your home on Friday. Breathe in the fresh air. And circle your entire neighborhood dressed as your Zwinky avatar in the hopes of walking away with enough free Almond Joys, Mary Janes and Fun Size Snickers to last you through Monday. (Best. Weekend. Ever.)

Oh, and while you do so, remember...

Stay snacktastic.
